National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML)

The NPQML is a professional qualification providing recognition of leadership development and professional achievement.  It will support you in developing the skills, knowledge and confidence that you need to lead a high-performing team in a school and to improve classroom practice.

Who is it for?

The qualification is for middle leaders in a school with responsibility of leading a team, such as a key stage leader, curriculum area leader, pastoral services leader, subject leader, head of department.

Course Overview

NPQML is assessed and awarded by the National College and is successfully delivered in a local cluster by the East Kent Learning Alliance (EKLA).

To successfully complete the NPQML qualification you will need to complete two essential and one elective module, which reflect recent and significant changes in schools and national policy.

Participants will complete an in-school project to address a school improvement priority.

Each module is designed to support you in your workplace, and involves up to 50 hours of blended learning which include face-to-face days, action research projects, reading, reflection and online learning.  The programme can be completed between 6-18 months.

The support of a mentor from your school is essential to enable you to make the most of the programme.

When you join the EKLA NPQML programme you will benefit from:

•  Working with serving school leaders and experienced programme leads

•  Access to online courses throughout the programme

•  Induction and preparation for assessment support

•  Local face to face learning venues
