SCHOOLS WORKING COLLABORATIVELY TO RAISE STANDARDS...

NPQSL

"I want there to be a culture of high-quality ongoing professional development running like a golden thread through a teacher’s career, and I want this to be shaped increasingly through access to clearer career pathways for the next generation of teachers and school leaders.  The newly strengthened set of gold standard national professional qualifications (NPQs) that will be delivered from September this year are a big step forward"

Justine Greening, Secretary of State for Education

The NPQSL is a professional qualification providing recognition of leadership development and professional achievement. It will support you in developing the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to be a highly effective senior leader, contributing to the strategic development of your school as part of the senior leadership team.

Who is it for?

NPQSL is for those individuals who not only have responsibility for leading a team, but are also involved in leading a range of issues that affect the whole school or organisation. This includes those who are, or are aspiring to be, a senior leader with cross-school responsibilities e.g. a Director of a Teacher School Alliance (TSA).

Course Overview

The qualification will support you in becoming a highly effective senior leader with the skills, confidence and knowledge to contribute to the strategic development of your school or organisation as part of the senior leadership team. The support of a 'sponsor' from your school, usually your line manager or Headteacher, is essential to enable you to make the most of the programme. You will tailor the programme to meet your particular priorities through your choice of in-school project and a 360 20q Diagnostic of your leadership skills which will help you identify the areas you want to develop.

Each Module involves a mix of blended learning, including the following :

  • Entry and exit Leadership Diagnostics
  • School-based Induction Tasks
  • 3 Face-to-Face days
  • Self-directed learning to apply key learning to the school environment
  • Action Learning sets to gain ongoing experience of other school leadership systems
  • Final Assessment Twilight
  • Ongoing support (from your in-school Mentor and our trained Facilitators)
